Animals living in the Artificial/Aquatic - Canals and Drainage Channels, Ditches habitat

The Artificial/Aquatic - Canals and Drainage Channels, Ditches is a habitat that includes human made wetlands usually used for water treatment and storage. These include such land structures as ponds (both for water storage and agricultural), canals, ditches, and drainage channels. These sites are located all around the world and usually contain creatures that prefer semi-wet environments such as frogs, newts, and water snakes. Freshwater otters and manatees even live here in the appropriate climates.

The amphibious species (frogs and newts) feed on the insects and worms that dwell within the habitat, and the mammals tend to prefer fish and other creatures that live exclusively in the water. These habitats are perfect for creatures that don't like large bodies of water, and also like to come on land and be safe from predators; there are a lot of hiding spaces (logs, large rocks, and trees) both in and out of the water.
