Pink fairy armadillos - real animals
The smallest of the family of the armadillos, the Pink Fairy Armadillo (Chlamyphorus truncatus), is an endangered species. It exists in parts of Argentina in South America and is threatened by the destruction of its habitat and domestic dogs. It can be distinguished from the other members in the family, because it is the only armadillo with the dorsal shell almost completely separated from the body. This little digger can bury so fast that it can bury itself in a matter of seconds when it feels threatened. The armor plate functions as a cork to close the entrance to its burrow. They feed primarily on ants.

Is it not best to build an exclusive habitat for the armadillos?

Hi, i am not sure what you mean.. To make a national park for these pink fairy armadillos in Argentina? This would be a solution to preserve the species, because from http://www.msu.edu/~nixonjos/armadillo/c..
: No specimens of C. truncatus have ever survived more than four years in captivity.

this seems such a simple solution-
but if it’s domestic dogs, then why not fence it off,
who owns the land? can it not be bought by someone who doesn’t want it destructed so the armadillo’s can live,
and if they need ants, i have lots in my garden :)

I can figure out why it is called the Pink Fairy Armadillo
Pink: Well, it’s pink (I can’t see its pinkness due to my colourblindness, but since I only have red-green colourblindness, then the pink must be very subtle anyways)
Fairy: It is tiny, like a fairy
Armadillo: ...Do I have to say it?
Anyways, it seems odd that nobody can get it to live in captivity for long. It is like the Rafflesia Arnoldi, as in, it should be EASY to emulate its environment and everything it needs, but yet it seems to be missing something important…
