Moenkhausia heikoi, a new endemic tetra from the Rio Xingú basin, is described and compared with related species, including the type species of the genus Moenkhausia xinguensis, which is phenotypically close and also endemic to the Xingú basin. The latter species is redescribed from the holotype and from new collections. More
