White-backed Woodpecker - It is the largest of the spotted woodpeckers in the western Palearctic, 24–26 cm long with wing-span 38-40 cm and has plumage similar to the Great Spotted Woodpecker, but with white bars across the wings rather than spots, and a white lower back. The male has a red crown, the female a black one.

 

Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker - A medium-sized, pied woodpecker. Upperparts black, heavily barred white. Undertail red, breast und belly buffwith light flank barring and slight side streaking. Withish cheeks partly bordered by black line. Crown red in male with orange forehead, black in female.

Yellow-crowned Woodpecker - Medium-sized, pale-headed, pied woodpecker. Upperparts black, heavily spotted and barred white. Underparts dark, steaked dingywithe with red belly patch. Irregular brown cheek and neck patches. Female has yellowish crown and nape. In male nape scarlet and fore-crown yellow.

Great Spotted Woodpecker - The Great Spotted Woodpecker , Dendrocopos major, is a bird species of the woodpecker family . It is distributed throughout Europe and northern Asia, and usually resident year-round except in the colder parts of its range. It is not considered a threatened species by the IUCN, being widely distributed and quite common.

 

Middle Spotted Woodpecker - The Middle Spotted Woodpecker is 20-22 cm long and has plumage similar to the Great Spotted Woodpecker. As with that species the upperparts are predominantly black with white oval wing patches and white barring on the wings, and the underparts are white. The main differences are a red crown, lack of a black moustachial stripe, a pink vent, and dark streaks on the flanks.

 

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker - The range of the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker is the Palearctic region, but several subspecies are recognised.

 

Dendrocopos nanus - A small brown and white woodpecker with distinctive pink-rimmed white irises. Barred brown and white above, lightly streaked dirty white below. Tail spotted white. Paler brown crown and eyestripes contrasting with white supercilia and cheeks.

 

Dendrocopos noguchii - The Okinawa Woodpecker , is a woodpecker endemic to the island of Okinawa in Japan. It is the only member of the genus Sapheopipo.

 

Dendrocopos obsoletus - The Brown-backed Woodpecker is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, and Uganda.
