The Cockatiel , also known as the Quarrion and the Weiro, is the smallest and genuinely miniature cockatoo endemic to Australia. They are prized as a household pet and companion parrot throughout the world and are relatively easy to breed. As a caged bird, cockatiels are second only in popularity to the Budgerigar.

The Cockatiel is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.
