With a total length of approximately 15 cm, it is a small parrot, but the largest species of hanging parrot. It has traditionally been considered monotypic, but recent work has re-validated the subspecies croconotus from Muna and Buton Island, and quadricolor from the Togian Islands, leaving the nominate for the population on Sulawesi itself.
The Sulawesi Hanging-Parrot is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

The rest of the day we spent at several places in the park seeing amongst others Maroon-chinned Fruit-Dove, Yellow-billed Malkoha, Fork-tailed Swift, Grey-rumped Treeswift, Green-backed Kingfisher, Black-naped Oriole and Crimson Sunbird. Hereafter we headed to Kota Bomagu and checked into the very good Hotel Patrajasa. More
