Cuban Conure

Its natural habitats are dry forests, dry savanna, and arable land. The species breeds seasonally, nesting from April to July. It nests in holes in trees or termite nests, particularly those created by the Cuban Green Woodpecker. Three to five eggs are incubated for around 22 days, and the nestling period is between 45–50 days. The species was once very common but is now much reduced due to habitat loss and trapping for the cagebird trade. As a consequence it is now listed as vulnerable by the IUCN.

The Cuban Conure is classified as Vulnerable (VU), considered to be facing a high risk of extinction in the wild.

Cuban Conure can get very noisy. Not everybody can tolerate their high-pitched screech that can be annoying. Hi i have a mature cuban conure believed hen that lost her mate a few years ago, is there anyone out there who happens to have a spare bird? I never did got this one surgically sex-ed, offers taken if someone is desparate for one. This one does have a problem with its crop- its food bulges out although this does not seem to affect the bird, has done since it was a chick. Aviary Bird, Uk bred.
