Wahlberg's Eagle

Wahlberg's Eagle breeds in most of Africa south of the Sahara. It is a bird of woodland, often near water. It builds a stick nest in the fork of a tree or the crown of a palm tree. The clutch is one or two eggs.

The Wahlberg's Eagle (Aquila wahlbergi) is a bird of prey. It is about 55-60 cm in length and has a wingspan of 130-160 cm. Wahlberg's eagle is one of the smallest of the eagles, only growing to 52 cm (20 in) and 770 grams (1.7 lb). Usually solitary, these eagles like to perch in leafy trees. They nest in the rainy season, building a small platform lined with leaves under the canopy of a tree. Usually only one egg is laid, and it hatches in 24 to 45 days. Only the mother feeds the baby bird, for about 75 days. More
