New Britain Kingfisher - The White-mantled Kingfisher is 16-18 cm in length and has a black bill, and the plumage is mostly white in the male, with blue wings, tail, a turquoise crown, and a thick black stripe through the eye. The female is similar to the male but has blue on the lower back. The call is a rapid descending "kee-ku-ko-ko" or a trilling "ki-ki-ki-ki-ki".

 

Cinnamon-banded Kingfisher - The Cinnamon-banded Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is found in Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.

White-collared Kingfisher - The Collared Kingfisher is a medium-sized kingfisher belonging to the family Halcyonidae, the tree kingfishers. It is also known as the White-collared Kingfisher or Mangrove Kingfisher. It has a wide range extending from the Red Sea across southern Asia and Australasia to Polynesia. It is a very variable species with about 50 subspecies.

 

Micronesian Kingfisher - The Micronesian Kingfisher has three subspecies, each restricted to a single island/island group:

 

Blue-and-white Kingfisher - Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.

 

Talaud Kingfisher - The Talaud Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is endemic to Indonesia.

 

Chestnut-bellied Kingfisher - It is dark blue above with richly-coloured orange underparts. There is a white spot in front of the eye and a broad black band on the side of the head. It has a white throat and collar. It measures 19-21cm in length and weighs 32-42 grams. The call is a series of loud, shrill, piping notes. The only other kingfisher in Vanuatu is the Collared Kingfisher which has paler blue-green upperparts, whiter underparts and a buff stripe above the eye.

 

Sombre Kingfisher - The Sombre Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is endemic to Indonesia.

 

Tuamotu Kingfisher - The Tuamotu Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is endemic to French Polynesia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, plantations and rural gardens.

 

Marquesan Kingfisher - The Marquesan Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is endemic to French Polynesia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and plantations. It is threatened by habitat loss.

 

Lazuli Kingfisher - The Lazuli Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is endemic to Indonesia.

Forest Kingfisher - The Forest Kingfisher , also known as the Macleay's or Blue Kingfisher, is a species of kingfisher in the Halcyonidae family, also known as tree kingfishers. It is a predominantly blue and white bird. It is found in Indonesia, New Guinea and coastal eastern and northern Australia. Like many other kingfishers, it hunts invertebrates and small frogs and lizards.

 

Blue-black Kingfisher - The Blue-black Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is found in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

 

Red-backed Kingfisher - The Red-backed Kingfisher is a species of kingfisher in the Halcyonidae family, also known as tree kingfishers. It is a predominantly blue-green and white bird with a chestnut rump. It is found across the continent of Australia, mainly inhabiting the drier regions.

Todiramphus ruficollaris - The Mewing Kingfisher or Mangaia Kingfisher , known locally as the Tanga‘eo, is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae, or Kingfisher family. It is endemic to Mangaia in the Cook Islands.

Sacred Kingfisher - The Sacred Kingfisher is a tree kingfisher found in the mangroves, forests, and river valleys of Australia, Fiji, Indonesia, New Caledonia, New Zealand , Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and the Wallis and Futuna Islands.

 

Todiramphus saurophaga - The Beach Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is found in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Solomon Islands. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.

 

Chattering Kingfisher - The Chattering Kingfisher lives singly or in pairs and feeds on insects and lizards taken on the wing or from the ground. The species nests in tree cavities.
