The Ashy-faced Owl (Tyto glaucops) is a species of owl in the Tytonidae family. It is found in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The Ashy-faced Owls have bred, not once, but twice this year. The first two babies hatched were a boy and a girl, then four months another boy was hatched. This was so impressive that it was reported in the International Owl Society magazine for September 2008. More
The Ashy-faced Owl is similar in size and appearance to the North American Barn Owl, but overall darker, grayer, and with a distinctly ashy-gray facial disk. It was once thought to be a subspecies of the Barn Owl, but is now recognized as a separate species endemic to the island of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic). More

Ashy-Faced Owl (Tyto glaucops) is similar in size and appearance to the American Barn Owl, but overall darker, grayer, and with a distinctly ashy-gray facial disk. The size ranges from 26-43cm, and weighs 200-400g. Ashy-Faced Owl resides on open woodland, forest, scrub and often around towns and villages. They prey primarily on small mammals and birds, but also hunt tree frogs and lizards. More
