The Bare-shanked Screech-Owl Megascops clarkii has a limited distribution in cloud forests and humid, dense mountain forests from Costa Rica south to extreme northwestern Colombia. This Bare-shanked Screech-Owl was photographed in Monteverde Biological Reserve, Costa Rica. It is truely a beautiful screech-owl. Although we did see and photograph this species in the reserve, we made arrangements to separate from the night group and found it on our own. We also found them down the road from the reserve.
