The Fiery-billed Aracari lives in forest similar to the home of the Collared, but can live at elevations up to 1,500 m. Range The Fiery-billed is endemic to the Pacific side of Costa Rica, from the southwestern region down to western Panama. It is common throughout its range except the northernmost parts. The Collared Aracari shares the range of the Fiery-billed and furthermore lives on the Caribbean slope, from southern Mexico to western Ecuador. More

The Fiery-billed Aracari is a common resident breeder in lowland forests and clearings. The two white eggs are laid in an old woodpecker nest, 6-30 m high in a tree. Both sexes incubate the eggs for about 16 days, and the toucan chicks remain in the nest after hatching. They are blind and naked at birth, and have short bills and specialised pads on their heels to protect them from the rough floor of the nest. More

The fiery-billed aracari is a kind of Toucan which is found on the South Pacific slope, where Lapa Rios Ecolodge is located, up to 500ft (1500m).
