totally failed to score the Ashy Thrush which is known to hop about at dawn on the road up the mountain, but I did manage to find a Spotted Wood-Kingfisher. The latter is a glamorous K. that I heard but did not see whilst staggering up Mt Hamut in Luzon last year (see: http://www.pittasworld.com/Site/Jewelthrush_Diaries_Blog/Entries/2009/2/24_North_of_chiang_mai_2.html) so it was extra pleasing to finally get to grips with one.
