The Bare-cheeked Babbler (Turdoides gymnogenys) has a very small world range, occurring only in s.w. Angola and adjacent Namibia. The species often troops about in small flocks or family groups which can be quite noisy when alarmed. Their call, a rapidly repeated "kerrrr kerrrr ke ke ke ke ke" can be heard from quite some distance away. The Bare-cheeked Babbler is an uncommon bird which is endemic to Angola and Namibia. Like other babblers it is usually found in extended family groups. The birds photographed here are part of a group which has been in residence in Halali Camp, Etosha National Park for several years. More
