The Reddish-winged Bare-eye is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.
Both the Black-spotted and Reddish-winged Bare-eyes have quite different songs, as their series of whistles drop in pitch and roughen into snarls: Hee, herr, herngh, herngh, herngh, slow and sh'ort for the former species and fast, loud, and long for the latter. The hee'eee, rike-ee song of a Thrushlike Manakin (Schiffornis turdinus) once got an immediate answering song from a Pale-faced Antbird; the first note of the song is practically the same in both species.
