Plain Leaf Warbler

The Plain Leaf-Warbler is a species of Old World warbler in the Sylviidae family. It is found in Afghanistan, Bahrain, India, Iran, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan. Its natural habitat is temperate forests.

The Plain Leaf Warbler is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

Less common, plain leaf warbler can usually be located by its insistent, though quiet "tch, tch, tch...." call. A few pairs of Bonelli's eagles Hieraaetus fasciatus and barbary falcons Falco pelegrinoides nest on the higher crags, while the mountains are also favoured by migrant short-toed eagles Circaetus gallicus and long-legged buzzards Buteo rufinus . The most interesting raptor in the area is the lappet-faced vulture. More

The rare Plain Leaf Warbler is like a very small Common Chiffchaff, but has a much shorter tail and looks rather large headed in comparison, with a very small bill. In fresh plumage, a slightly buff panel may be visible on the closed wing, but otherwise the plumage is reminiscent of the chiffchaffs, especially Mountain. Luckily the call is quite distinctive, a rather hard-toned tschak-tschak. More

Plain Leaf Warbler buzzing around high up in a small clump of palms. Very difficult to observe and only viewed briefly in the open for a few seconds. Eastern Black Redstart (phoencuroides) - adult male + imm, Blue Rock Thrush singing under a near full moon on the small cliff here, Pale Crag Martin (5), House Sparrow (14) - pale plumaged birds, Red-vented Bulbul (2) singing and sharing the same palms with two White-cheeked Bulbuls. A Masked Shrike was also glimpsed by Keith Martin. More
