Thick-billed Warbler on Out Skerries - the third British record P. V. Harvey & K. D. Shaw Friday 14th September 2001 started quietly enough, with no hint of the excitement and drama to come. Roger Riddington had made an advance booking for the Skerries ferry some ten days or so previously (for himself, Pete Ellis, PVH, and KDS), but, in the preceding week, predominantly west or north-west winds over Shetland had given scant cause for optimism. I think this is a thick-billed warbler, seen today at a park on Taipa in Macau. It dwarfed the dusky warblers and common kingfishers hanging around here. No supercilium, a peak towards the rear of the head, very active and hanging out in the open. Took the pictures with the only camera I had, (sorry for the quality).
