Hall's Greenbul, Andropadus hallae, may be a melanistic form of this species. It is known only from a single specimen taken in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Little Greenbul is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

loci from the little greenbul (Andropadus virens), an African songbird. We utilized preexisting information about conserved regions of the avian MHC to design primers to amplify a pool of sequences representing multiple loci. From this pool, a unique locus spanning 1109 bp that we designate as Anvi-DAB1 was cloned and sequenced. We designed locus-specific primers based on this sequence information and amplified six alleles from seven individuals. Compared to other A. More
The little greenbul (Andropadus virens) is a small passerine that inhabits rainforests in Sub-Saharan Africa . Previous research on the little greenbul with di- and tetra-nucleotide microsatellite loci has revealed extensive gene flow among Cameroon localities and showed Cameroon and Ivory Coast populations to be genetically distinct . Analysis of mitochondrial DNA control region variation found Cameroon and Ivory Coast populations define two distinct sequence clades . More

The little greenbul (Andropadus virens) is a common passerine in central African rainforests, and its song consists of four distinct song types. Populations of little greenbuls were recorded in Uganda, and the maximum frequencies of each song type were measured. We correlated a measure of insect song frequency with little greenbul song frequency. We focused on the times of day when low frequency insect song was dominant (8 AM) and when high frequency insect song was dominant (10 AM). More
