Todays post is Black-headed Weaver (male) captured in Kenya. This guy was photographed in hotel area in Ambroseli, handheld with my old 20D @ 400mm. It was deep shadow and flash was used to bring more details. The Black-headed is represented in Kenya by 2 very distinctive subspecies (some authorities consider these to be incipient species). More

A Black-headed Weaver in Staffordshire - A reader of this website has asked us to identify this bird, seen in her garden in Streethay, near Lichfield, Staffs. She desribed it as "approx 12cm in height ... about the size of a young thrush". More
