Reunion Stonechat

It has for some time been included in the Common Stonechat , but it is well distinct; it is an insular derivative of the African Stonechat. Its ancestors diverged from the sub-Saharan African lineage as it spread across the continent some 2-2.5 mya during the Late Pliocene.

The Reunion Stonechat is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.
