The Short-toed Rock Thrush is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

The Short-toed Rock Thrush has a grey back, but also has a white head and neck which is missing on this bird. There is noted a species of the short-toed Rock Thrush M.b. Pretoriae which has been seen with grey back and no white head & neck colour. Could somebody confirm that these pics are of the Short-toed Rock Thrush M.b. Pretoriae. More
