The Scarlet-rumped Cacique is a passerine bird species in the New World family Icteridae. It breeds from eastern Honduras to Panama and in the Pacific lowlands of South America from western Colombia south to Ecuador, and in the lower reaches of the northern Andes. There are several subspecies, some of which have been proposed for elevation to full species status.
The Subtropical Cacique is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

Wood-Wren and the Subtropical Cacique contain several different variations. While we have attempted to capture most of the common vocalizations of each species, a number of species featured on these cassettes may give other vocalizations in addition to those presented here. We have also succumbed to including vocalizations of a few rarities, such as the White-faced Nunbird and Brown-billed Scythebill, which are less likely to be seen or heard but have been recorded by us in this location.
