The Pale-faced Antbird , sometimes known as the Pale-faced Bare-eye, is a species of bird in the Thamnophilidae family. It is monotypic within the genus Skutchia, but based on genetic evidence this genus should be merged with Phlegopsis. It is endemic to the humid forest in the south-central Amazon in Brazil.
The Pale-faced Antbird is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.
and studied a pair of Pale-faced Antbirds as they followed a colony of army ants from 5 to 11 April at about 415 ' S and 5918 ' W. On 12 April on the trail from Coatg to the Rio Madeira opposite Lago Puruzinha (Figure 1), I flushed another borbae and studied four or five, including a young bird, at a swarm of ants about 412 ' S and 5920 ' W. These observations, which indicate that borbae consistently follows army ants in the fashion of birds in related genera. More
