I must confess that when I took this photo in Kenya in 1981, and using the field guide available (Williams & Arlott 1980), I misidentified this bird as a "Flappet Lark M. rufocinnamomea." I've re-identified it as several things over the years, but only with the publication of Zimmerman et al. (1996) did I get this one correct. More
