Chris Benesh had tipped me to possible Long-tailed Wood-Partridge on the east road (signed Yuvila) from La Cumbre. This had long been a Mexican nemesis species for me, heard but never seen, so I had no real expectations of seeing one on the Cerro. Nonetheless, just beyond the turn-off to the microwave tower, I dutifully played the calls of Long-tailed Wood-Partridge. The first response I got was from a pair of DWARF JAYS. More
