The Rufous-backed Kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Republic of India and Thailand in tropical lowland forests near lakeshores and streamsides. The small bird is solitary and hunts from a low perch over the water by diving for insects and frogs.
