The Crowned Sandgrouse (Pterocles coronatus) is a species of bird in the Pteroclididae family. It is found in Afghanistan, Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Republic of India, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Western Sahara, and Yemen. The Crowned Sandgrouse undertakes daily journeys of up to 60km and back to obtain water. When nesting, the bird will get into the available water and soak its breast feathers. When it returns to the nest the chicks drink the water from the feathers. The diet is mainly vegetarian and the 2–3 eggs are incubated by both parents. More
