Although Squacco Herons are a very common sight in Kenya, their breeding range is very limited. The only regular site is close to the coast on the Tana river (near Garsen), although it occasionally breeds at other sites such as Lake Jipe. is a Squacco Heron, the smallest Heron in the region. While not flying it looks like a Bittern, but it shows completely white wings while in flight, as can be seen in the photo. The Okavango Delta is one of the tourist hotspots in Africa. Unfortunately, because there is sufficient dollars around in Maun, and because of Botswana's high cost, low traffic policy it can get really expensive to visit this wetland. More
