The Rainbow Starfrontlet is a very elegant looking bird. The Starfrontlets belong with the same genus of hummingbirds as the Incas. They have the long straight bill and a very regal look. This was one of our target birds that we had to go down almost to the Peruvian border to get. It is a large hummingbird but wouldn't stay perched long enough. When seen in the right light, the crown is stunningly beautiful. Free image hosting at imagecave. More
