Honduras mahogany
Natively it is found in Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela.) Honduras mahogany trees once had a distribution covering most of South America. Supply of the wood is still plentiful thanks in part to plantation harvesting. Tree Characteristics: Height of 150' with trunk diameters as large as 6'. Honduras mahogany prefers dry forests and can also be found in high elevation stands.
