Nepenthes diatas

N. diatas was formally described in 1997 by Matthew Jebb and Martin Cheek in their monograph A skeletal revision of Nepenthes , published in the botanical journal Blumea.

Nepenthes diatas is closely related to N. densiflora and N. singalana. It has the "toothy" peristome which makes this species quite handsome. This species is a definite highlander and likes those cool night time temperatures. It's been sort of a slow grower and has only now started putting out some really incredible pitchers. The pitcher itself is almost a suede leather brown with a very ridged maroon peristome. There are two forms that seem to be available. More
