Cleistopholis staudtii

Status rationale for Cleistopholis staudtii: This 30 m tree was first described from Kumba. Closely related to C. patens it is widespread but localised. Its absence from the intensively collected Mt Cameroon checklist area (Cable and Cheek 1998) shows that this observation is not merely an artefact of under-collection. Through some parts of its range (Nigeria, C.A.R., Kumba), forest loss has been extensive since the last collections were made and the species may no longer occur at those places. More
