Genus Bactris
Bactris is a genus of about 240 species in the palm family, Arecaceae, native to Central and South America, and the Caribbean.Species in the genus Bactris of plants
Prickly pole - According to Salzman and Judd B. jamaicana forms a clade with B. plumeriana and B. cubensis, the other Greater Antillean Bactris species.
Bactris nancibensis - Only two specimens are known: occurring south of the Cayenne area. One has been transplanted to formerly ORSTOM, now IRD Botanical Garden, where it has been observed to flower. The other specimen is located close to a road.
