Range & population Eurylaimus samarensis is endemic to the Eastern Visayas in the Philippines, where it is known from Samar, Leyte and Bohol. It was patchily abundant on Samar in the 19th century and may have remained moderately common there until at least the 1960s. However, there is a very limited area of forest remaining within its range. The only post-1980 records are from Rajah Sikatuna National Park on Bohol, where observations are not infrequent. More
