Bengal Florican

The Bengal Florican or Bengal Bustard, Houbaropsis bengalensis, is a very rare bustard species from tropical southern Asia. It is the only member of the genus Houbaropsis. This threatened species is now almost extinct; probably less than 1,000 and perhaps as few as 500 adult birds are still alive.

The Bengal Florican is classified as Critically Endangered (CR), facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.
